This book is for doctors, medical students in the clinical phase of their studies and other medical professionals who have to use English to communicate with patients, their relatives and medical colleagues. It aims to develop speaking and listening skills primarily but also focuses on reading skills, in particular the use of reference materials and journal articles. Practice is also given in writing referral letters and completing a range of medical documents. The book is divided into 7 units, each focusing on one area of doctor-patient communication. All the units have four sections. The Second Edition has been thoroughly revised to take account of the latest developments in medicine and also the changes in language teaching methodolgy.
