| Summary, etc. | The chapter layout of this book has been designed so that Part II and Part III can be used interchangeably. Pseudocode is stressed throughout to give users a strong foundation of basics before being introduced to C++ language specifics. Bit of Background boxes throughout provide interesting facts related to computer science and features new to this edition include a section on common programming errors in each chapter to help users avoid frequent programming pitfalls. The Standard Template Library, namespaces and function classes have been included as well as appendixes on using Microsoft's Visual C++ Version 6.0 and Borland's C++ Builder compiler. The ANSI specifications for C++ are incorporated throughout the book. In addition, the Y2K problem has been addressed by changing the date class to store a four-digit year. |
